The Designing Pat
The Designing Pat is a Singapore home-based business run by Yuan Teng, a SIT graduate from the Class of 2016. With a background in early childhood education, her fascination with the interactivity of children’s books and a lifelong love for arts and craft inspired her to start this little venture. Every greeting card is handmade individually, featuring unique interactive elements like rotating wheels, shaker cards, and pop-up boxes – designed to be kept long after the occasion has passed. Beyond cards, she also offers an everyday illustrated collection – from embroidered socks and stickers to keychains and tote bags – each with a punny twist.

RAINFRESH
Hey everyone. I’m Rai, graduated in 2018 from BSc in Food & Human Nutrition, conferred by Newcastle University Upon Tyne – back when our campus was in NYP. On top of my current profession, my siblings and I run RAINFRESH. It started through the idea of pampering one self. With our busy schedule, we won’t really have much time to relax and unwind. However, what if you could combine ‘pampering’ while being on task together? Through our invigorating gentle foaming hand soap scents, a short toilet break ends with a calming or refreshing burst of aroma. Now, you can get back to work – feeling fresher than before with RAINFRESH. We also feature other home care products such as Instant Room Freshener, Reed Diffusers and Linen Spray & Sleep Well Spray (COMING SOON!).

Frothii was born from two best friends’ shared love for tea, and a belief that a great cup can be both premium and fun. Today, Frothii is expanding beyond powders into premium tea leaves, offering tea lovers more ways to enjoy quality tea at home. From everyday sips to special moments, we’re here to make tea a little more exciting, one cup at a time.

Alumni Mentor
A core goal of our cycle was actively supporting my mentee’s job search, specifically by assisting with her CV creation and interview preparation. I am delighted to report that she has made tremendous improvements in both the format and content of her CV, as well as significantly enhancing her interviewing skills. While she is still actively in the midst of the interview process and seeking a full-time role, the progress achieved thus far is substantial and highly encouraging.

Cycle 5, 6, 7, 10
UOG – Mechanical Design Engineering
Class of 2020
Alumni Mentor
The most memorable theme throughout my time in the programme has been the idea of “Community.” Having participated in several cycles, I’ve consistently heard from the mentees that it’s this vibrant, supportive environment that makes the programme so attractive. The culture here is exceptional: everyone is highly approachable, creating a network where people genuinely help each other out in countless ways. It’s the power of connection that truly defines this mentorship experience.

Cycle 7, 8, 10, 11
NU – Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering
Class of 2023
Alumni Mentor
This is a fantastic programme for both sides. For student mentees, it provides crucial early exposure to practical career advice and valuable industry insights. Equally, for us as alumni mentors, it offers a deeply satisfying channel to give back to the community, leveraging our professional expertise and experience to directly impact the next generation. It’s a rewarding opportunity to share the knowledge gained throughout our careers.

DP – Computer Science and Game Design
Class of 2019
It was incredibly insightful when my mentor Jun Liang, invited a former mentee to one of our sessions. Hearing both of their experiences firsthand was brilliant because, as Eleanor Roosevelt said, ‘Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.’ This session wasn’t just advice; it felt like I got a fast-track look into potential paths and pitfalls, which has made me think much more strategically about my own future.

Cycle 9
Mechanical Engineering, SIT – UofG
Class of 2027
I was really grateful by how my mentor Shawn, went the extra mile to support me with an assignment. He actually reserved a room at his workplace so I could properly present my ideas and talk through the challenges in that formal setting. Getting his feedback in that professional setting was invaluable – he pointed out things I hadn’t considered and suggested concrete improvements that made a real difference to the project’s direction and my confidence in it.

Cycle 9
Sustainable Built Environment
Class of 2026
The fact that my mentor Farhan, feels more like a friend than just a mentor is what I valued most. We have open conversations about everything – from uni work and career ideas to just general life experiences. It’s this sharing of stories and experiences from a senior who had walked this path before, made the whole experience so memorable and really supportive. It’s not just about advice; it’s about connection.
Hoo En Yi
Cycle 9, 8, & 7
Chemical Engineering, SIT-TUM
Class of 2027
Being mentored by Bryan has been a game-changer, particularly with my job search. He didn’t just give generic advice; he helped me properly focus my approach and, surprisingly, it’s also shifted my general outlook on things. He has a knack for highlighting the crucial challenges I was grappling with – some I hadn’t even fully recognised – and opened my eyes to new ways of thinking about my career and options.
Ho Sheng Wei
Cycle 9 & 6
Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering, SIT – NU
Class of 2025
Alumni mentoring programme serves as a great opportunity to be connected with SIT family. I served as alumni mentor during cycles 2 &3. My student mentees were from the disciplines of physiotherapy, and criminology and security respectively. My expertise is in the fields of nursing and clinical research. However, through mentoring sessions, I learnt and appreciated the intersections between our disciplines. I enjoyed interdisciplinary mentoring as it allowed me to think of care plans from the perspectives of a physiotherapist for an example. Additionally, our interdisciplinary conversations emphasized the importance of collaborations and networking to maximise impact of health outcomes and educational research.
Dr Sheena Ramazanu
Cycle 2 & 3
Assistant Professor, Hong Kong Metropolitan University’s School
of Nursing and Health Studies
Class of 2013
Being a mentor taught me that mentorship is a mutual learning experience. While I shared insights, I gained fresh perspectives from my mentee, keeping me inspired and informed.
Professionally, the programme expanded my network and honed my leadership skills, while personally, it brought fulfilment witnessing the growth of my mentees and forming meaningful bonds.
Isabel Chong Qi
Cycle 2 & 7
Senior Medical Marketing Specialist, DKSH Singapore Pte Ltd
Class of 2017
Mentorship isn’t a solo journey, it has also provided me with improvements and areas of growth on how to communicate with people, as well as methods to provide clearer guidance on what people want in their life and career. I’m glad to share that with some of my mentees, we have continued our mentorship journey post the SIT Mentorship Programme and allowed us to continue to grow as a person together. With experience in mentoring undergraduates, professionally, I am now more capable and able to guide and lead my team better.
Thanks SIT for the opportunity and would look forward to many more mentorship cycles to come.

Cycle 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Manager, Changi Airport Group
Class of 2015
Every individual’s experiences are unique, at least they were for me when I was a SITizen. The struggles, excitement, and aspirations for my future occupied my headspace. I believe my juniors might feel the same way as I did.
I am eternally grateful to those who illuminated my path, and I have decided that becoming a mentor is the most meaningful way to do the same for others.
Edsel Li Zhenhao
Cycle 5, 6, 7
Senior HR Executive, Hegen
Class of 2021
During my experience mentoring both my mentees, I was able to learn about their lives and how they dealt with their problems. I felt that it was an enriching experience for me as a mentor to be able to learn from them as well.
I highly recommend our current and future SIT Alumni to participate in this program simply because there is so much opportunity to learn both as a mentor and as a mentee.
Jonathan Lim, Alumni Mentor
Cycle 1 & 3
Nursing Practice, UOM
Class of 2015
It’s great how the relationship with my mentee has evolved into one where we can support each other. It is not just a one-way street where I share guidance and provide feedback, but I have also learned from them about how I can better myself.
Priscilla Foo, Alumni Mentor
Cycle 1
Hotel Administration, UNLV
Class of 2013
I choose to mentor because I see it as social responsibility and hope to see SIT produce graduates who not only possess practical industry work skills but also be people-oriented leaders in this society.
Tan Wei Liang,
Cycle 1-3
Physiotherapy, SIT-TCD
Class of 2015
“I’ve always believed in giving back and mentoring youths. It’s my personal goal to dedicate my time to grow as a mentor this year and the SIT mentorship programme is a perfect platform that matches mentors to the pool of ambitious mentees.
It wasn’t just the mentees who benefited from this programme, it was a two-way learning process as I’ve gained knowledge on the happenings around gen Zs and also discovered how I can contribute as a mentor.”
Candy Lim,
Cycle 1
