CheerS IT @ Another Bar: A Night of Connection and Community

Some friendships pick up exactly where they left off. Others begin with a simple conversation.

That spirit of connection was at the heart of CheerS IT @ Another Bar, where SIT alumni gathered on 17 June 2026 for an evening of familiar faces, new introductions and meaningful conversations. Over good food, drinks and plenty of laughter, graduates from different cohorts reconnected with old friends, expanded their professional networks and strengthened their ties with the wider SIT community.

Adding a fresh twist to the evening was a CheerS IT first. Alumni DJs from Audiowerkz took to the decks, bringing an alumni-led soundtrack that set the tone for the night. Their live set quickly became a talking point among attendees, with several alumni even asking for the playlist after the event – a testament to the vibrant atmosphere they helped create.

Beyond the music and networking, the evening also invited alumni to reflect on their journey with SIT. Through an interactive Alumni Engagement Journey activity, attendees shared what staying connected to their alma mater meant to them and offered ideas on how the University could continue creating meaningful opportunities for alumni to reconnect and give back. The conversations were thoughtful, honest and a reminder that being part of the SIT community does not end at graduation.

The positive response from attendees reflected the success of the evening. One alumnus shared that the event was “well planned”, offering “sufficient time for staff to achieve work-related agenda and organic bonding between alumni”, adding that “More CheerS IT should be conducted since it promotes interaction organically with no pressure.” Another attendee summed up the experience simply: “THIS IS PERFECT. MORE PLEASE.”

Together with another alumnus’ description of the evening as having “Good vibes”, the feedback captured what CheerS IT is all about – creating a welcoming space where connections happen naturally and the SIT community continues to grow long after graduation.
