With the theme “Back to School,” SIT pulled out all the stops to welcome 184 fresh graduates to the alumni family. Packed with music, games, and endless fun, the night at Hard Rock Cafe was a perfect blend of celebration and connection.
The energy was electric on 25 October 2024 as Hard Rock Cafe, Orchard, became the ultimate party venue for SIT’s New Alumni Welcome Party. Over 230 attendees —including senior management, faculty, overseas university partners and 184 fresh graduates—this “Back to School” bash marked the perfect start to life as SIT alumni.
The evening kicked off with a warm welcome address by Mr. Lawrenz Sim Chee Choon, Director of the Office of SITizen Experience. His heartfelt message, “Once a SITizen, Always a SITizen,” resonated with the audience and set the tone for an evening filled with camaraderie and joy.
From there, the event hit the ground running with spectacular live performances. The SIT Breakers dance group wowed the crowd with their dynamic moves, while SIT Muzeka Alumni Group and the Mad Trios filled the room with infectious energy through their musical talents. The performances set the stage for a vibrant and interactive night.
The “Back to School” theme brought out the playful side of attendees, who competed in mini-games, showcased their creative talents in a best-dressed contest, and cheered on lucky draw winners. Initially hesitant, the fresh alumni quickly found their groove, surprising everyone with their singing, acting, and even comedic skills. It wasn’t long before shyness gave way to unfiltered fun.
By the end of the night, the message was clear: graduation is not the end but the beginning of a lifelong connection with the SIT family. The Office of SITizen Experience ensured that every graduate left with more than memories—they walked away knowing they had a community to lean on for life’s next chapter.
With the success of this year’s New Alumni Welcome Party, the bar has been set high for future celebrations. Here’s to more celebrations and stronger bonds in the SIT alumni journey ahead!

Alumni mentoring programme serves as a great opportunity to be connected with SIT family. I served as alumni mentor during cycles 2 &3. My student mentees were from the disciplines of physiotherapy, and criminology and security respectively. My expertise is in the fields of nursing and clinical research. However, through mentoring sessions, I learnt and appreciated the intersections between our disciplines. I enjoyed interdisciplinary mentoring as it allowed me to think of care plans from the perspectives of a physiotherapist for an example. Additionally, our interdisciplinary conversations emphasized the importance of collaborations and networking to maximise impact of health outcomes and educational research.

Every individual’s experiences are unique, at least they were for me when I was a SITizen. The struggles, excitement, and aspirations for my future occupied my headspace. I believe my juniors might feel the same way as I did.
I am eternally grateful to those who illuminated my path, and I have decided that becoming a mentor is the most meaningful way to do the same for others.

Mentorship isn’t a solo journey, it has also provided me with improvements and areas of growth on how to communicate with people, as well as methods to provide clearer guidance on what people want in their life and career. I’m glad to share that with some of my mentees, we have continued our mentorship journey post the SIT Mentorship Programme and allowed us to continue to grow as a person together. With experience in mentoring undergraduates, professionally, I am now more capable and able to guide and lead my team better.
Thanks SIT for the opportunity and would look forward to many more mentorship cycles to come.

Being a mentor taught me that mentorship is a mutual learning experience. While I shared insights, I gained fresh perspectives from my mentee, keeping me inspired and informed.
Professionally, the programme expanded my network and honed my leadership skills, while personally, it brought fulfilment witnessing the growth of my mentees and forming meaningful bonds.

During my experience mentoring both my mentees, I was able to learn about their lives and how they dealt with their problems. I felt that it was an enriching experience for me as a mentor to be able to learn from them as well.
I highly recommend our current and future SIT Alumni to participate in this program simply because there is so much opportunity to learn both as a mentor and as a mentee.

“I’ve always believed in giving back and mentoring youths. It’s my personal goal to dedicate my time to grow as a mentor this year and the SIT mentorship programme is a perfect platform that matches mentors to the pool of ambitious mentees.
It wasn’t just the mentees who benefited from this programme, it was a two-way learning process as I’ve gained knowledge on the happenings around gen Zs and also discovered how I can contribute as a mentor.”

It’s great how the relationship with my mentee has evolved into one where we can support each other. It is not just a one-way street where I share guidance and provide feedback, but I have also learned from them about how I can better myself.
