Whipping Up a Bussin Time Baking Sweets with SITizens
The first ever bake class from the Alumni Leisure Network series receives overwhelming support.
More than 40 SITizens showed up for the very first alumni bake class session, held at Bells Baking Studio @ Suntec City on the 6th of July. Split into two different studios, participating alumni carried out the baking activity in pairs to learn to bake Totoro Cookies, or Cookie Monster Cupcakes, at the workshop conducted by professional baking instructors from Bells. The participants got to learn different techniques and must-knows of baking, such as using cold butter for cookie mixture and how to control temperature when making whipped cream.
For Ms Vivien Yeo, Class of 2017 from Design Communication, the workshop was a great ice-breaking alternative to making new friends, as she had signed up alone and was partnered with another alumnus for the Cookie Monster Cupcakes. Ms Yeo said: “I think the most memorable moment was adding the eyes of the Cookie Monster to the cupcake, me and my baking partner were squeaking on how cute it is!”
Ms Charissa Lim, a Food and Human Nutrition graduate from the Class of 2018, attended the bake class with her ex-classmates. She found that the session was a great way to spend some fun time with friends. “I found it quite therapeutic to just focus on shaping the cookies!”, said Ms Lim who joined the group for Totoro Cookies.
