Forming Strong Bonds and Connectivity Among SITizens Through Mentoring
The SIT Alumni Mentoring Programme conducts two networking sessions to promote connectivity and an opportunity for SITizens to gain a multitude of different perspectives.
As Cycle 6 is gearing up to full speed, our SITizens take the time to socialise and get to know each other better.
22 June 2023 - The First Mentoring Social Session for Cycle 6 Participants
A total of 80 mentors and mentees gathered at Mind Cafe @ Prinsep Street on Thursday, 22 June 2023, to network over food and board games.
The mentorship pairings basked in the lively atmosphere of the cafe as they updated each other on their mentoring progress, exchanging fresh ideas and getting support. After a quick catch-up session over food, the crowd was led by the venue’s host to participate in rounds of party games. Participants were split into different groups and competed to emerge as winners for the night. To many SITizens, it was an exhilarating night to bond and learn from one another through the power of play.
Mr Joe Jin Xun, final year student from Accountancy degree programme, enjoyed interacting with other particpants during one of the games where they could only communicate through specific gestures of the assigned character to find the same group that they belong to. He gave a special mention of how the networking session helped him gain valuable insights by mingling with SITizens from different backgrounds and fields of study. He added: “Meeting people out of my course of study exposes me to a wider range of knowledge, and it helps me with making more informed decisions about my own academic or career path in the future.”

27 July 2023 - Mentors Assemble! Cycle 6 Mentors Connect and Network
Held at The Venue Skewers & Grill @ King George’s Avenue, the first mentors-get together session took place on the 27 July 2023, with more than 40 mentors turning up for the event. A chill and easy session for networking, the mentors of cycle 6 shared meaningful conversations and participated in active listening. The mentors were grouped and focused their discussion on different topics and switched around each time a new question was asked. They had the opportunity to engage with more alumni from different industries and share their work experiences with one another.
Naval Architecture degree programme alumnus of 2014 Mr Teo Jun Hao shared that it was a great opportunity to “makan”, chill and swap stories with other SITizens. He also says: “This session not only enables us to share our mentorship journey but also help us enhance our own career and life skills.”
