SITizen Day returns on 16 October. Here’s why alumni keep coming back

SITizen Day is back, bringing together a day of activities, performances and opportunities to reconnect with the SIT community. From browsing the flea market and taking on Tug of War and Telematch to enjoying the evening concert, there’s something for everyone. And for alumni, the SIT Alumni Homecoming is a chance to catch up with familiar faces and make new memories.

We spoke to a few alumni who were part of last year’s event to find out what made their experience memorable and why they’re returning this year.

Discover familiar faces and new finds at the SITizen Day Flea Market

Chee Jia Yi (Class of 2018), an SIT alumna and founder of Studio Zia, an illustration brand inspired by the everyday chaos of working life, turns relatable everyday moments into stickers, keychains, magnets and more.

Her booth was one of the busier ones at last year’s flea market, and she’s returning to SITizen Day this year with new designs.

“I’ve been part of quite a few art markets and conventions, but SITizen Day has a different feel to it. There is something really nice when a fellow alumnus or student stops at the booth, reads a design and immediately laughs because they relate to it. Those little ‘this is so me’ moments are my favourite parts of doing what I do.
It was heartwarming seeing the SIT community resonate with my work last year, so I am excited to be back again with new designs. Come by and find what you can relate to!”

Rally your team for Tug of War and Telematch

For Tan Zhi Heng Andy (Class of 2027), and member of the 2025 Tug of War champion team, the experience was about more than just winning.

“We’ve got a pretty strong team spirit, and we actually train together regularly, so winning didn’t feel like luck. That said, it wasn’t just about winning, it was genuinely good fun competing together and having everyone cheer us on!”

Turn up the energy at this year’s evening concert

For Chua Zhi Ning (Class of 2026), performing in front of a large crowd was an experience she won’t forget.

“There’s honestly nothing quite like stepping onto a stage with hundreds and thousands of people watching. The nerves are always there before we go on, but the moment the music starts, everything disappears and it’s just pure adrenaline.
Last year, the crowd’s energy was insane! It pushed us to give everything we had and it became one of those performances we’ll never forget. If you’re looking for good vibes, high energy and some crazy action this year, come catch us live. Trust me, it’s a whole different experience in person.”

Also taking the stage is Li Zong Xian Omega (Class of 2025), who performed with the Chinese Orchestra and in a dance item last year before staying on to enjoy the concert with friends.

“It was a joy to come back and perform with Chinese Orchestra, the club I co-founded with my friends, but what made the whole experience better was chilling and enjoying the vibes with my friends. Great entertainment, fantastic company, friends you’ve known throughout your schooling years, what can beat that? I still think about it sometimes, and I’m curious to see what this year’s concert brings.”

This year’s concert line-up also features Denise Teo (SUPERCATKEI), Rangga Jones and brb.

Reconnect at the SIT Alumni Homecoming

Beyond the flea market, games and performances, SITizen Day is also an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with the people and memories that have shaped their SIT journey.

The SIT Alumni Homecoming takes place in the evening, offering alumni a chance to catch up with former coursemates and programme leaders while enjoying SIT-inspired drinks and views of the concert from the comfort of an air-conditioned space.

For Chen Jia Jun (Class of 2025), last year’s Homecoming was a memorable opportunity to celebrate with friends and fellow SITizens.

“I connected and celebrated my convocation with close friends, fellow Vanguards, SAMs and graduands over glasses of our very own SIT cocktail. The cocktail was a metaphor for every SITizen story, a mix of everything: the good, the sweet and a few hints of bitterness that make every memory even more meaningful.
At its core, SITizen Day reminds us that the connections and shared moments that we build here are some that we will carry long after graduation. Let’s raise a glass to our SIT story, bring a friend, make new memories, and sign up for SITizen Day.”
