A Little Butter, A Lot of Connection: SIT Alumni Get Creative Together
Back by popular demand, the Alumni Leisure Network’s Butter Craft Workshop returned earlier this year on 27 June 2026, bringing together 44 alumni for an afternoon of creativity, flavour and connection.
Participants got hands-on with the art of butter crafting, experimenting with different ingredients to create their own flavoured butter blends. From classic combinations to more adventurous creations, the workshop offered a fun opportunity to try something new while catching up with fellow SITizens in a relaxed setting.
The session also welcomed a mix of first-time and returning participants, with several alumni couples attending together. Beyond the butter-making, it was an opportunity to meet fellow alumni, make new connections and share an enjoyable experience outside the usual work and daily routines.
A First Alumni Event, Together
For Eileen Wee (Class of 2025) and Justin Tan (Class of 2026), the workshop marked their first SIT Alumni event as a couple. After discovering the activity through the SIT Alumni mailing list, they decided it would be a fun way to spend time together and try something different.
“I really enjoyed getting hands-on and experimenting with different ingredients to create our own butter blends. It was a unique experience, and I would love to see more alumni friends join future activities together,” shared Eileen.
Justin particularly enjoyed sampling the different butters and exploring flavour combinations. While he kept his creation simple with honey butter, Eileen opted for a more adventurous blend featuring tom yum, mushroom and assorted toppings.
“As our first SIT Alumni event, it was a great opportunity to try something new that we probably wouldn’t have attempted otherwise. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more fun alumni activities in the future,” said Justin.
More Opportunities to Connect
With its blend of hands-on learning and casual conversations, the workshop showed how shared experiences can bring alumni together in new ways. Whether reconnecting with familiar faces or meeting fellow SITizens for the first time, participants had the opportunity to build connections beyond their time at SIT.
Looking ahead, Eileen hopes to see more activities that alumni can enjoy together, including sourdough bread-making, coffee brewing, latte art and even group activities such as Pilates and indoor volleyball.
Through the Alumni Leisure Network, SIT Alumni can continue discovering shared interests, trying new experiences and building meaningful connections with one another, one activity at a time.
