Tech Minds Reunite: ICT Alumni Homecoming Sparks New Connections
Over 100 alumni and industry professionals from the Infocomm Technology (ICT) cluster gathered at SIT’s Punggol Campus to reconnect, exchange insights, and share knowledge. From dynamic panels to lively networking sessions, the SIT Alumni Industry Night was an unforgettable evening of inspiration and connection.
On 15 November 2024, the Ho Bee Auditorium at SIT’s Punggol Campus buzzed with excitement as alumni from the ICT cluster reunited for the highly anticipated SIT Alumni Industry: ICT SITizen Homecoming. The event marked a heartwarming reunion for 120 alumni, alongside 15 graduating students and 44 senior management, faculty, and staff.
The evening began with a heartfelt address by Deputy President (Academic) & Provost, Professor John Thong, followed by a warm welcome from Professor Ian McLoughlin, Cluster Director, ICT. The night’s agenda combined insightful discussions, engaging entertainment and plenty of opportunities to reconnect alumni with their alma mater and one another.
Alumni Wisdom and Industry Insights
The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion featuring five distinguished ICT alumni namely Yu Pengfei (Information Security, Class of 2021), Jeremiah Yap (Software Engineering, Class of 2022), Chia Yi Xuan (Computing Science, Class of 2023), Harron Tan (Computer Engineering, Class of 2023), Bryan Koh (Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation, Class of 2024).
Moderated by Associate Professor Jeannie Lee, the panel explored their personal and professional journeys, offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the tech industry. The session wrapped up with an engaging Q&A segment, where attendees had the chance to pick the brains of the invited panelists. The participating alumni shared that the panel discussion had helped them better understand the current job market and industry trends.
Networking, Entertainment and Fun
Dinner and drinks fueled the evening’s vibrant networking sessions, as attendees reconnected with former classmates, juniors, and professors. Adding a touch of fun were interactive elements like a claw machine, a photo booth, and a lucky draw, while a live performance by SIT Audiowerkz set an upbeat tone for the evening. “This is a fantastic chance to network and catch up with everyone,” said an alumni attendee.
