SITizens Form 7 New SIT Alumni Groups

These new official groups help alumni stay connected with SITizens who share the same interests.

Graduating does not mean having to leave one’s friends and interests from university days behind. Between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023, more than 200 SIT Alumni had come together to form seven new official Alumni Groups at SIT, just so that they can stay connected with fellow SITizens who share the same interests.

The seven groups – SIT Muzeka Alumni Group, SIT Tennis Alumni Group, SIT Running Alumni Group, SIT Handball Alumni Group, SIT Air Transport Management (ATM) Alumni Group, SIT Glasgow School of Art (GSA) Alumni Group, and SITizen Ambassadors Alumni Group – are supported by the SIT Advancement & Alumni Division.

The SIT Muzeka Alumni Group (SMAG) provides a safe space for members to express themselves through music and experience the joy of music-making, no matter their experience or musical background.

Alumni from the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) programme formed the SIT GSA Alumni Group so that creatives can get together to network and exchange ideas, in addition to maintaining ties.

The SIT Tennis Alumni Group welcomes all like-minded tennis enthusiasts, regardless of their playing experience, so that they can enjoy the sport together.

The SIT Running Alumni Group aims to build and foster student-alumni relations through running and social events.

The SIT Handball Alumni Group welcomes all those who want to connect with one another through the joys of Handball, no matter their experience or background.

The SIT Air Transport Management (ATM) Alumni Group wants to bridge current students and those who are already in the industry. It aims to act as a stepping-stone for networking within the industry through the Industry Advisory Committee.

The SITizen Ambassadors (SAMs) Alumni Group, an extension of Student Life Division SITizen Ambassadors Programme, enables graduated SITizen Ambassadors to continually make a positive impact by serving the larger SIT community.

Recognising and Identifying Your Career Anchors for Future Career Growth

What is the difference between a job and a career? This was an essential question SIT Alumni had to consider at Recognising and Identifying Your Career Anchors for Future Career Growth, the first career webinar of the year organised by the SIT Alumni Career Network.

Dr Timothy Hsi, Educator, Psychotherapist and Career Coach, spoke about the importance of understanding your career attributes and anchors and how to leverage on them to make decisions about your career. Participants were guided on how to identify anchors such as one’s career values, skills and interests. They also discussed which elements of anchors they could explore to take charge of their personal career growth.

Craft Chocolate Tasting & Appreciation Workshop

SIT Alumni Leisure Network

An incredible sensory experience awaited SIT Alumni on 23 March 2023 at local chocolate maker Lemuel Chocolate, where they attended the Craft Chocolate Tasting and Appreciation Workshop.

At the event, organised by the SIT Alumni Leisure Network, 34 participants spent the afternoon learning all about the bean-to-bar chocolate making process. The participants also got to sample different flavours of handcrafted chocolates and learnt that tasting chocolate is not unlike drinking wine. Besides taste, you can also use your senses such as smell – and even hearing how a chocolate bar cracks – to influence your appreciation of chocolate.

SIT Alumni Sports Network

2 March 2023

On Thursday, 2 March 2023, SIT Alumni saw bowling in a different light – literally. At K Bowling Club at 313@Somerset, 41 alumni enjoyed a bowling session under neon lights and pulsating party beats, organised by the SIT Alumni Sports Network. They also had the chance to network and catch up with each other at a buffet dinner before the session.

The top male and female bowlers of the night were rewarded with a collapsible Stojo cup as their prize.
