SIT DCIM Alumni Group Launched!
SIT Digital Communications and Integrated Media Alumni Group members are all ready to facilitate interconnectedness and help open doors by providing the necessary events, tools, and support for their fellow DCIM SITizens.
Saturday, 24 February, 2024 was the end of the Lunar New Year season, but also a fresh start for members of the Digital Communications and Integrated Media Alumni community, who had formed their very own Alumni Group with the support of the Singapore Institute of Technology’s Advancement and Alumni division. On that happy day, Assoc Prof Jiow Hee Jhee, DCIM Programme Leader, hosted the launch of the new SIT Digital Communications and Integrated Media (DCIM) Alumni Group, with 15 of the group’s 26 members attending.
Official SIT Alumni Groups are organised groups of SIT alumni who serve SITizens, SIT, or the larger society, by being actively engaged in communicating and gathering around a central unifying purpose, mission, background, interest, or activity. At SIT, Alumni Groups can be cluster based, programme based, or interest based. To date, SITizens have formed a total of 11 Alumni Groups.
In high spirits and over a delectable lunch, cohort mates took the opportunity to catch up, as the group EXCO shared updates on upcoming activities for the year. DCIM group members also got to find out more about the SIT Alumni App, as well as upcoming alumni events (such as the Sunset Cinema and the Alumni Mentoring Programme) from SIT’s alumni outreach staff. They also took part in a lucky draw with corporate gift prizes.
Said DCIM Alumni Group EXCO Chairperson Mr Lionel Goh (Class of 2023), “We felt a sense of belonging as we were tasked with the responsibility of creating an alumni group for our batch of DCIM graduates. As we embark on our careers, we felt the need to maintain the bond between our DCIM graduates. With the alumni group, we can connect everyone and open new opportunities for our peers, juniors, and future alumni.”
Assoc Prof Jiow remarked: “As I am connected to many DCIM students on social media, I am heartened to see graduates gathering on their own as a result of the friendships forged during their time at DCIM. I would like to also thank the DCIM Alumni Committee members for stepping up to take their positions to foster a strong community that will take them through life together. It was a pleasure hosting the first activity at my home.”
