SIT Alumni Mentoring Programme: A Night of Appreciation to Honour the Cycle 9 Mentors
As Cycle 9 of the SIT Alumni Mentoring Programme came to a close, alumni mentors and student mentees gathered at Conrad Singapore Orchard for a memorable evening of appreciation. The event celebrated the guidance and support that the alumni mentors have provided, offering a space for reflection, networking, and the exchange of valuable insights that will continue to shape the journeys of both mentors and mentees.
The spirit of mentorship and lifelong learning took center stage at the SIT Alumni Mentoring Programme – Cycle 9 Mentors Appreciation Dinner on 6 March 2025. Held at Conrad Singapore Orchard, the evening brought together 46 alumni mentors and 69 student mentees to celebrate the impact of mentorship, and the meaningful connections forged throughout the programme.
A Night of Gratitude and Reflection
The event commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Lawrenz Sim, Director of the Office of SITizen Experience, who expressed his gratitude to the dedicated alumni mentors for their unwavering commitment to guiding the next generation of SITizens. He also encouraged mentees to embrace the knowledge and insights gained through their mentorship journeys.
The evening provided an excellent platform for networking, where mentors and mentees engaged in lively discussions, sharing experiences and professional insights beyond the formal structure of the programme. One of the most anticipated moments was the Mentoring Experience Sharing session, where attendees reflected on their growth and achievements throughout the cycle.

Impactful Mentorship Journeys
Many mentors and mentees shared heartfelt takeaways from the programme. Billy Ko, Class of 2019, reflected on his rewarding experience as a mentor, saying, “It’s really rewarding to see how my mentee has progressed in life.” His words echoed the sentiment of many mentors who found fulfilment in witnessing their mentees’ personal and professional development.
For Information and Communications Technology (Information Security) student mentee Pavulraj Shamita, the evening was a meaningful conclusion to her mentoring experience. She shared, “I enjoyed the fact that I was able to interact with other mentors and reconnect with other mentees as well!” emphasizing the value of mentorship beyond career guidance.

A Stronger SIT Alumni Network
As Cycle 9 of the SIT Alumni Mentoring Programme draws to a close, the appreciation dinner served as a reminder of the strong SIT alumni network and the power of mentorship in shaping future professionals. With each cycle, the programme continues to foster meaningful relationships between experienced alumni and aspiring students, reinforcing SIT’s culture of support, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
The success of this event paves the way for future mentorship cycles, strengthening the bonds within the SIT community and inspiring alumni to continue giving back.
