SIT Alumni Industry Night: HSS SITizen Connect Brings Graduates and Faculty Together for an Inspiring Evening

Real-world advice, alumni stories, and panel discussions came together at HSS SITizen Connect, offering a valuable look into the evolving landscape of healthcare and social sciences.

On Friday, 25 April 2025, the Alumni Base Station came alive with energy and meaningful conversations as 73 participants — including 46 alumni and graduating students, and 27 faculty members and staff — gathered for SIT Alumni Industry Night: HSS SITizen Connect. More than a reunion, the event was a professional exchange rooted in shared purpose and lifelong learning for the Health and Social Sciences (HSS) community.

The attendees were treated to a mini campus tour, offering soon-to-be graduates and returning alumni a fresh perspective at SIT’s evolving learning spaces — a walk down memory lane for some, and a glimpse into the future for others.

One of the night’s key highlights was an engaging industry sharing by Mr Chan Kuang Hong, a graduate of SIT’s Occupational Therapy programme now practicing at IMH. Kuang Hong shared his path from student to healthcare professional, including his experience as the founding President of Magical Hearts, an SIT student initiative that champions inclusivity and mental health awareness. His journey exemplified the spirit of service and leadership fostered at SIT.

A thought-provoking alumni panel discussion followed, featuring Emily Yap (University of Glasgow – Nursing) and Ang Xu Kai (SIT – Diagnostic Radiography), moderated by Assistant Professor Mauricette Lee Moling from the HSS faculty. Together, they explored the realities of working in healthcare today — from interdisciplinary collaboration to managing emotional resilience on the ground. Their candid insights resonated with both alumni and students, sparking reflective dialogue among attendees.

The evening concluded with a vibrant networking session, where faculty, students, and alumni connected over shared experiences, exchanged contact details, and reignited old friendships. Conversations flowed freely as SITizens across different cohorts found common ground and new collaborations in the making.
