Once a SITizen, always a SITizen… and now a ‘SITeazen’!
Participants learn to savour the fine art of tea brewing at the recent Tea Appreciation Workshop presented by the SIT Alumni Leisure Network
Mention the words ‘tea appreciation’, and a wise-looking master sitting cross-legged brewing tea in a tranquil environment may probably pop up in our consciousness. The ‘master’ in question is none other than Tea Chapter, which conducted a Tea Appreciation Workshop for 35 disciples (SIT alumni) on 9 Sep in Chinatown.
‘SITeazens’ engaged in an interactive session, learning about tea history and witnessing a tea art demonstration. The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on brewing segment, where alumni were equipped with the necessary tools and guidance to brew their own tea. On top of that, the group seating arrangement allowed for not just the interaction but also networking among alumni, fostering connections that extend beyond the workshop.
Said Mr Tan Wei Jie (Class of 2021), one of the participants: “It was a good opportunity to network and do something fun together. I shared a table and made new friends with alumni from the Accountancy and Computer Science programmes, made possible from the close seating arrangement during the session”
Another participant, Mr Tan Kian Heng (Class of 2018) added: “I learnt about the interesting history of tea origins in a relaxing atmosphere, with an engaging staff guiding us on the steps to appreciate tea.”
