SIT graduates aim to deliver unique food experiences and inspire future students with their entrepreneurial journey with the opening of NomStop.
In a vibrant fusion of entrepreneurial spirit and culinary passion, five SIT alumni from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) are taking their expertise and love for food to a new level with the launch of their food and beverage business, NomStop. Set to open at Singapore Institute of Technology’s (SIT) Punggol campus, NomStop represents not only their extensive culinary training but also their commitment to enriching the campus community with diverse American cuisine.
A Culinary Dream Team
NomStop is founded by a close-knit group of friends who met at the Culinary Insitute of America Programme, hosted by SIT. The founding team comprises of Wah Rou Ying, Chivas Hong, Dickson Lee, Hooi Shao Wei and Choo Yan Wen from class of 2022. With varied and extensive range of experience in the kitchen, they aim to showcase a diverse selection of American cuisine synonymous to their curriculum. Their collective expertise is set to offer an impressive array of American dishes that reflect the comprehensive curriculum they completed together. From gourmet burgers and artisanal sandwiches to classic American comfort foods with a contemporary twist, NomStop promises a menu that caters to a wide range of tastes.
A Return to Their Roots
Setting up shop in their alma mater’s new campus is more than just a business venture for these alumni; it’s a heartfelt return to their roots. “Our first priority is to provide the community with delicious and unique food options,” the team explains. “We come with an ‘atlas’ of food knowledge in a variety of cuisines and love to share our explorations with SITizens!” By opening a stall at SIT’s Punggol campus, NomStop aims to offer a culinary experience that complements the vibrant campus life while delivering a taste of their extensive training.
Inspiration and Aspiration
Beyond serving delectable dishes, NomStop has a deeper mission: to inspire and serve as a role model for aspiring students. “We hope to inspire and be a role model for aspiring students who wish to step foot into F&B, not only in the kitchen but also on a business perspective,” the team said. Their journey from students to entrepreneurs exemplifies the possibilities within the food and beverage industry, showcasing the blend of practical skills and business acumen required to succeed.
