Birds of a Feather Flock Together … in SIT Alumni Groups
SITizens have formed eight SIT Alumni Groups (and counting), which provide them with the network to connect, unwind, and pursue shared interests.
28 September 2023 – Launch of the Hospitality Business Alumni Group
Hospitality Business alumni from both University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) gathered at GudSht @ Grange Road on a Thursday evening to celebrate the launch of a new alumni group, the SIT Hospitality Business Alumni Group. The group’s committee comprises five members, each representing a different graduating class, and they hope to provide a platform to foster professional relationships among their peers.
Close to 50 attendees participated in games and had a great time reconnecting with old and new friends. SITizens also got to catch up with Programme Leader for Hospitality Business, Associate Professor George Liu, who graced the event.
Mr Ben Kum, President of the SIT Hospitality Business Alumni Group shared that frequent encounters with his fellow peers led to a share sentiment which inspired the creation of an alumni group. He revealed that the group has future events lined up, such as an upcoming Chinese New Year dinner celebration. The Class of 2020 Hospitality Business graduate would like to encourage existing and future Hospitality Business graduates to sign up. He said: “Join us and rekindle connections, relive those university memories, and stay connected with your fellow Hospitality Business alumni!”
7 October 2023 – Alumni Tennis Group: A Smashing Time
More than 20 SITizens congregated at SIT @ Dover campus for a mini tennis competition organised by the SIT Tennis Alumni Group on a fair Saturday morning. The alumni took part in rounds of tennis play to determine the best player, and all of them received mini tokens of appreciation for their participation.
Mr Khong Mun Kit Class of 2020 Physiotherapy graduate says: “I was there to support my friend and also to pick up a new sport. For myself, I’m pretty familiar with badminton but had little knowledge about tennis.” He said he would like to encourage more SITizens to take part in alumni group events as he believes these events are where SITizens can find new friends with similar interests.
