Rekindling friendships and sparking ideas, the Alumni Industry Night reaffirmed SIT’s commitment to fostering lifelong connections and professional growth within the BCD (Business, Communication and Design) community.
On 22 November 2024, the SIT Punggol Campus buzzed with energy as 74 alumni, graduating students, faculty, and senior management gathered at the Alumni Base Station for this signature event – Alumni Industry Night: BCD SITizen Homecoming. It was an evening of reconnecting, sharing insights, and expanding their professional networks.
The evening kicked off with a mini campus tour, offering attendees the chance to explore the new surroundings of their alma mater. A heartfelt welcome address from Professor John Thong, Deputy President (Academic) & Provost, set the tone for an engaging evening. Adding to the warmth and inspiration were inspiring speeches by Associate Professor Koh SzeKee, Cluster Director, BCD and Associate Professor Lee Kuan-Huei, Director of Programmes, BCD.
Event Highlights: A Blend of Insights and Interaction
A key highlight of the evening was the faculty and alumni breakout discussions. These sessions facilitated thought-provoking conversations about career growth, emerging industry trends, and the ever-evolving landscape of digital media and business. Alumni and faculty members connected on a deeper level, sharing experiences and sparking fresh ideas for future collaborations.
The event concluded with a lively networking session, where attendees mingled, exchanged professional insights, and strengthened the bonds within the SIT alumni community. It was a night to forge new connections and rekindle old friendships.
For Mervyn Chia Zi Liang, a graduating student from SIT Accountancy, the highlight was interacting with trailblazers from his course. “I got to know and interact with the pioneers from the course and their working and personal life,” he shared. Wesley Ethan Sun Ho Yin from SIT’s Digital Communications and Integrated Media programme, Class of 2024 echoed this sentiment: “It’s good to know more from other folks in the industry!”
