A Night of Reunion, Relaxation… and Romance playing on the Silver Screen
SIT Alumni gathered for an evening of laughter, tears and rekindled friendships, all while enjoying the 2023 romantic film Past Lives.
More than 90 alumni gathered in the cozy cinema and cultural space – The Projector @ Golden Mile Tower – on 5 October 2023 to catch the American romantic drama film Past Lives.
While waiting in anticipation for the movie to commence, they enjoyed a sumptuous buffet dinner reception and a long-overdue reunion with fellow SITizens. SIT Alumnus Er Wei Quan cherished this opportunity to meet and catch up with his friends. He said: “Movies united us, friendships made it special. This event entertained us with what was on the screen, and the joy of catching up with friends brightened the night.”
Past Lives was befitting the occasion, as the story follows the story of two deeply connected childhood friends who reunited for one fateful week 20 years later – perhaps a little like how our alumni reconnected with one another that day.
What’s a movie night without snacks and drinks? Alumni had the choice of either popcorn or nachos and a soft drink to go with the movie. As the opening scene of Past Lives began to unfold on the projector, the theatre lights dimmed, conversations were paused, and all that could be heard was the crunch of popcorn.
Said SIT Alumnus Justine Dela Cruz: “SIT Alumni movie night at a beloved unique location was an absolute blast! These events are always so much fun, giving me the chance to catch up with dear friends and try new things. I even ran into a few familiar faces, which was a heartwarming surprise. The movie’s theme of growing up overseas resonated deeply with me, and I found myself thoroughly engaged throughout the screening. I’m so glad that SIT is organising such memorable and meaningful events for us.”
