Alumni Industry Night Sparks Collaboration and Dialogue in Engineering
Celebrating community and collaboration, the inaugural Alumni Industry Night welcomed alumni and senior leaders for an evening of shared experiences and networking.
The first-ever Alumni Industry Night: ENG SITizen Connect took place on July 11, 2024, bringing together close to 100 attendees, including ENG alumni, ENG faculty members and key figures from senior management. Co-organized by the ENG Alumni Sub-Committee, the event aimed to strengthen connections and foster collaborations within the engineering community.
Among the esteemed attendees were SIT President, Prof Chua Kee Chaing, and Deputy President (Academic) & Provost, Prof John Thong, who both underscored the importance of alumni engagement in shaping the future of the engineering field.
One of the highlights of the evening was a compelling dialogue session featuring alumni Chew Chek Phang, Shawn, and Xavier Lai Zhong Han. The duo shared valuable insights from their experiences in the engineering industry, discussing challenges, innovations, and opportunities in the field. Their stories not only inspired the attendees but also sparked discussions that extended into the networking session.
The networking segment provided a dynamic platform for attendees to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. Many participants expressed enthusiasm about rekindling old connections and making new ones, emphasizing the value of community in their professional journeys.
Associate Prof Alfred Tan, Lead of the ENG Alumni Sub-Committee, remarked, “Every opportunity to our ENG alumni community is a treasured one. Alumni engagement is very important in the ENG cluster as it fosters lifelong connections and professional updates in both ways.” This sentiment resonated throughout the evening as attendees recognized the significance of staying connected and supporting one another.
As the evening wrapped up, it was clear that the Alumni Industry Night had not only succeeded in its mission but had also laid the groundwork for future gatherings. With such positive energy and engagement, we can’t wait to see what’s next for the ENG community!
